Is there a 2026 World Cup game in Michigan? Schedule, locations

Many U.S. cities will be hosting games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup – but will any of them be in Michigan? The short answer is no, but Michigan World Cup fans can still find games a relatively short drive or flight away. The World Cup, taking place from Thursday, June 11 through the final on Sunday, July 19, will have games in 16 North American cities, 11 of them in the U.S. The closest host city Michiganders can reach is Toronto, which is hosting five group-stage games in June.

Just ask Michigan State professor John "Trey" Rogers III, whose unprecedented feat 32 years ago set a standard that has only been rising since. Rogers, one of the world's leading turfgrass experts, is best known for leading the effort to install natural grass inside the Pontiac Silverdome for the 1994 World Cup.

LIV Golf in Michigan not guaranteed in 2026

LIV Golf in Michigan not guaranteed in 2026 Michigan may be down another major golf tournament. In an interview with CNBC's Scott Wapner on Tuesday, June 9, LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neill would not commit to the tour finishing out its final four events on the 2026 schedule, which includes the season's final event in the LIV Team Championship. LIV Michigan is currently scheduled to take place from Aug. 27-30 at The Cardinal at Saint John's in Plymouth.
