The Stranger Things star covers our Autumn 22 issue, talking how he channelled the villainous voice and persona of Vecna. “It started very nasally, like your classic monster voice. Then I slowly realised that it was about opening up and relaxing the larynx and using the diaphragm. When you think about portraying these dark thoughts and the truth as it were, for me, often when I’m really centred in telling the truth I’m much lower. It’s not chaotic.

The Stranger Things actor talks his eight-hour costume transformation and tales of set life as he covers our Autumn/Fall 22 issue. “Art offers a sense of constant evolution, so I never want to get to the place where I’m comfortable. I always want to be pushing myself and pushing my boundaries. For Vecna, I pushed myself further than anything I’ve ever done before.” Never has the internet loved a villain quite so much as the way that Stranger Things’ Vecna has been embraced.
