Hiker Evacuated From Snowmass Creek Due To Health Emergency Sunday, August 2 - The Pitkin County Sheriff's Office was notified of a sick hiker on Snowmass Creek Trail at the bottom of Buckskin Pass on Saturday morning. The group who contacted authorities said the sick party member was displaying "symptoms of pneumonia." Mountain Rescue Aspen deployed two foot teams to reach the sick party, while a CareFlight helicopter was used to evacuate him.

LIFT-UP Food Pantry Continues Distribution Into August LIFT-UP will continue to distribute food via mobile distribution using drive-thru sites in Carbondale, Glenwood, New Castle, Parachute, DeBeque and Rifle. Some sites will be moving locations as schools begin to re-open. The schedule will continue as one-day-a-week per community, with longer distribution times while rotating each week between mid-afternoon and early evening.

Inspectors At Ruedi Reservoir First Line Of Defense Against Growing Threat Of Invasive Mussels

Aspen Public Radio interim news director Christin Kay talks with Morning Edition host Molly Dove about the growing invasive species threat throughout the Colorado River Basin. On a busy Saturday morning recently at Ruedi Reservoir up the Fryingpan River valley, Jaime McCullah sprayed a high-powered jet of hot water over every nook and cranny of a bright green motorboat. McCullah is a supervisor for Rocky Mountain Recreation, which inspects boats at Ruedi for quagga and zebra mussels.
