Social media allows for journalists to get in touch with some people much more easily. But, it also amplifies the fast-paced nature of news.

A journalist must be fair and honest in their quest to report the truth.

Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, Social Media, ArcGIS, Tableau, CMS, Canon 5D Mark IV with 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 lenses

Why did you become a journalist?
Journalism offers a passport to meet people, go places, and learn things -- as well as the ability to expose wrong by shining light on truth.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I wrote stories and took photographs.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Take a step back and look at things from a different angle to help figure out where your holes are and really listen when people talk.
What's your favorite drink?
Seltzer
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I take my dog, Roxie, on long walks -- oftentimes while listening to podcasts in one ear. I also enjoy running and exploring with my camera.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
Many people think journalism is very glamorous and don't think about how you are often waiting for hours in all kinds of weather.
