The Seven Cabins Fire that started with a deadly medical plane crash on May 14 is, as of Thursday, 98% contained, and all evacuation orders have been lifted. At the height of the devastating wildfire that burnt through the steep Capitán Mountain wilderness area, more than 46 crews with over 1,100 personnel were deployed from all over the U.S., which included 50 fire engines, six helicopters, 38 water tenders and 11 dozers. Crews have begun suppression repair work throughout the 31,860 acres.

Santa Ana Pueblo June 11-Aug. 13 Rodeo Tamaya Tamaya Horse Rehab presents Rodeo Tamaya at 1300 Tuyuna Trail. Every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., the public rodeos take place. The spirit of the Southwest comes alive through fast runs, fearless riders and the kind of energy you can feel in your boots. All proceeds from each rodeo support the mission of Tamaya Horse Rehab and the care of its rescued horses.

Ongoing Walking Through Roswell's Past Take the free self-guided historical walking tour, "Walking Through Roswell's Past," through Roswell's South Park Cemetery, 3101 S. Main St., and see the oldest marked graves. This tour — at a comfortable pace — will take one to two hours to complete. The organizers advise to wear comfortable shoes, take water and adhere to the cemetery etiquette, as in remaining on the walkways and roads, unless you must cross on foot to reach a grave site.
