Risk factors for mortality in patients admitted to a psychiatric acute ward: A prospective cohort study
Significant outcomes Psychiatric symptoms were generally not associated with increased mortality risk in patients admitted to a psychiatric acute ward. Many risk factors for mortality are modifiable, including physical illness and excessive use of alcohol and illicit substances. Limitations The study lacked information about well-known risk factors for natural death, such as smoking habits, blood pressure, cholesterol, and body mass index.
