4. Discussion One of the most important aspects of the clinical performance of a novel orthodontic bracket is the shear bond strength. This should be tested extensively before introduction to the market. Ideally, it should be achieved in a standardized setup that has already served for the introduction of new bracket systems and allows comparability with them. A commercially available bracket that has been thoroughly investigated in previous studies should serve as the gold standard.
