The push to do away with mail-in voting is driven by un-American motivations
As a long-time voter in Utah, I've been so grateful for our mail-in voting system. When my children were younger, I was able to fill out my ballot at the kitchen table, showing them how thoughtfully I went over my choices and emphasizing the importance of voting to my kids. I didn't have to worry about disrupting their dinner or waiting in line with them for hours so I could participate in our elections.
Three gastropod species reported in Utah for the first time: Arion fasciatus, Cepaea nemoralis, and Cryptomastix magnidentata
Three gastropod species were discovered in Utah in recent years that have not been previously documented in the state. These include the slug Arion fasciatus and 2 terrestrial snails: Cryptomastix magnidenta, found in Cache County, and Cepaea nemoralis, found in Salt Lake County. These species are also the first representatives of their genera found in the state. Voucher specimens are held at the Utah Museum of Natural History.

This is a love letter to Sherrie Swensen, long time Salt Lake County clerk. Although we've never met in person, I have greatly benefited from Swensen's efforts to make voting easy and convenient in Salt Lake county. Because of easy mail-in and drop-off voting, I have voted at my kitchen table with my kids, so they were comfortable around a ballot.
'The Utah Firefly' on Wild About Utah
This is a rebroadcast from May 17, 2019 A lot of people are surprised to know that we have fireflies in Utah, but we actually have them in 20 of the 29 counties, that we’ve discovered so far. People are often surprised that they’re here, and they think that they’ve just arrived but they haven’t. They like to live in marshy areas, and they are only adults from late May to early July, so that’s why people often don’t see them, because people aren’t usually recreating in marshy areas.
Letter: School day should start later
Many studies have shown the benefits of later school start times, from increased attendance to better graduation rates and even reduced depression, anxiety, car accidents and suicidal ideation. Though some may balk at the inconvenience of changing bus schedules and extracurriculars, aren’t the lives of our children worth the hassle?
