Introduction Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease that predominantly affects the optic nerves and spinal cord, with anti-aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4-ab) recognized as its most prevalent biomarker (1). During acute attacks, patients typically exhibit elevated Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores and require therapeutic interventions such as high-dose methylprednisolone, plasma exchange, or intravenous immunoglobulin.
