Ammonia-mediated Conformational Dynamics in SCAP for SREBP Activation
Abstract Cholesterol homeostasis is regulated by the sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP) pathway, with the membrane-embedded SREBP-cleavage-activating protein (SCAP) and insulin-inducible gene protein (Insig)-1/2 acting as sterol sensors. Our previous studies unveiled a critical role of ammonia in activating the SREBP pathway.
Membrane bound geranylated RNAs establish a primitive peptide synthesis system
Abstract The origin of an RNA-based translation system necessitates a specific interaction of certain RNAs with defined amino acids. This must have happened in a protocellular environment where these molecules were concentrated so that a connection between the encoding RNA and the amino acids could be established that allowed the formation of peptides. A model of how such a system could have evolved does not exist.
Techno-Economic Analysis of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell-Gas Turbine Hybrid Systems for Stationary Power Applications Using Renewable Hydrogen
Abstract : Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)–gas turbine (GT) hybrid systems can produce power at high electrical efficiencies while emitting virtually zero criteria pollutants (e.g., ozone, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and sulfur, and particulate matters). This study presents new insights into renewable hydrogen (RH2)-powered SOFC–GT hybrid systems with respect to their system configuration and techno-economic analysis motivated by the need for clean on-demand power.
