Melatonin induces mechanisms of brain resilience against neurodegeneration

In light of the mounting evidence regarding the importance of melatonin to the central nervous system and its possible role in brain resilience, we aimed at elucidating the mechanisms through which melatonin treatment can play in AD pathology mitigation. To carry out this study, we treated 6‐month‐old triple‐transgenic mice for AD (3xTg‐AD) by way of a daily dose of 10 mg/kg body weight of melatonin until the animals reached 12 months of age, a stage of advanced AD‐like pathology.
