Tale of the Tape: The Drive That Was Great...Until it Wasn't
Welcome back to Tale of the Tape! Much has been made of the second half of the Dolphins game, so I want to go back a little further and focus on the Ravens’ first offensive drive of the game. But there’s no better way to start than the first play of the game, a 103-yard kickoff return TD from Devin Duvernay. What a way to kick off the season at home, and it’s just a beauty of a run from Duvernay that’s set up by excellent special teams work. It starts with the positioning.
Out to Lunch: Pierre-Paul Joins the Flock!
The Ravens have signed a well known pass rusher, and all 53 players were on the practice field yesterday. No, this is not the Twilight Zone, it’s just an exciting Purple Friday as the birds get set to travel to Foxborough this weekend! Let’s hop right into the last minute news and notes before this important early-season AFC matchup. We’ll start with the news at the top of headlines yesterday.
Tale of the Tape: Defense Does the Little Things Right
I wasn’t expecting a major breakthrough performance from the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 1 matchup with the New York Jets. They just needed to execute a clear, simple gameplan: control the line of scrimmage and don’t give up big plays.
Russell Street Report Dolphins at Ravens
Happy Purple Friday, flock! As we know, when the Ravens gear comes out we’re only a few more sleeps away from the birds taking the field yet again, and this time the message is clear: REVENGE! The Miami Dolphins come to town on Sunday for the home opener at M&T Bank Stadium, and you can bet the players and fans haven’t forgotten what took place on that ugly Thursday night last year in South Beach.
Bold Predictions: Will Ravens Move to 2-0?
The Ravens welcome the Miami Dolphins in their home opener as 3 ½ point favorites. One would think that given the embarrassing loss at Hard Rock Stadium last season that John Harbaugh & Co. will look to answer that ugly 22-10 blitzing by the Fish. Will they? Without further ado, our RSR Staff Bold Predictions.
Battle Plans: How to Get Revenge Against Miami
That fateful Thursday night in Miami a season ago, which now feels like the watershed mark at which the Ravens’ campaign came off the rails, needs to be avenged. The Ravens’ early season conquest of the AFC East, part deux, opens Sunday, as Baltimore welcomes back it’s Ravens to M&T Bank Stadium.
Popcorn Anyone?
Wednesday press conferences are always interesting, but this week’s was fun. Not only did we hear some of the stars of last Sunday’s victory over the Jets speak, but QB Lamar Jackson handed out popcorn for reporters if their questions were worthy: Perhaps that was a sign of things to come, as Ravens fans may want some popcorn for themselves when Baltimore bouts with the Miami Dolphins this weekend.
