Claire Darwin KC

In Alpha Anne & Ors v Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust [2026] EAT 15, the EAT held that outsourced contract workers cannot rely on s.41 of the Equality Act 2010 to bring claims against a principal that are, in substance, about their contractual pay terms with their direct employer. Claire Darwin KC acted for the Respondent, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, instructed by DAC Beachcroft LLP. Read the full judgment here.

In Jallali v The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis and The Secretary of State for the Home Department, the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) considered the arrangements for the calculation of salary and the accrual of leave entitlement to part-time police Inspectors.

Claire Darwin KC will be speaking at the Symposium on ‘Human Rights at Work: Reimagining Employment Law’, by Professors Virginia Mantouvalou, Hugh Collins, A.C.L. Davies and Alan Bogg. The symposium will bring together scholars and practitioners to engage critically with the book’s arguments — examining how human rights constrain employer power, how they apply in the gig economy and across global supply chains, and what they mean for equality, dignity, and freedom at work.
