1 INTRODUCTION In the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) age-standardized incidence and mortality rates of cancers are 178.4/100,000 and 85.7/100,000 person-years, respectively. Focusing on cancers amenable to screening, breast and cervical cancer are the first (age-standardized mortality rate 13.5/100,000 person-years) and third (age-standardized mortality rate 7.6/100,000 person-years) most common causes of cancer death among females.
