Introduction Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent supraventricular tachyarrhythmia and constitutes a significant burden for healthcare systems worldwide (Hindricks et al., 2020). AF impairs the heart's pumping function and reduces the cardiac output (Daoud et al., 1996; Morris et al., 1965), which in turn is correlated with an increase in symptomatic burden and a decline in quality of life (Klavebäck et al., 2023).
