Quesnel still hoping to host Minerals North Conference

The Minerals North Conference that was set to be held in Kitimat this May has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and likely won’t be held this year, Minerals North Conference Association president Andrew Webber said. Kitimat was awarded the 2021 conference in 2019, but Webber said with COVID restrictions still in place, it doesn’t seem like things will be ready in time for the conference in May. “The best way to explain it is like, everything’s on hold,” Webber said.

Colin Spangl recently received a lot of attention on a Kitimat community Facebook page for all the right reasons. Spangl is a nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) department at the Kitimat General Hospital and is incredibly good at his job, according to many in the Kitimat community. “Shout out to Colin at emergency…you are a NURSE GOD!!! Thank you so much,” Sue Galbraith posted in ‘The Kitamaat, Kitimat, and Community’ Facebook page.

Here’s the report from Jan. 15 to 21: Intersection power outage On January 15 at noon, the Kitimat RCMP arrived at the intersection of Haisla Blvd. and Kuldo Blvd. following the weekend’s power outage, which was affecting the traffic lights.
