The deliberate cocrystallization, or self-assembly, of organic molecules is now recognized as a viable route to the formation of functional materials in a wide variety of fields. (1) The cocrystallization, or self-assembly, process is guided by cooperative noncovalent interactions such as π–π stacking and charge-transfer interactions, hydrogen bonding, and, more recently, halogen bonding between the components.
