1 Introduction Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus, GBS) is a pathobiont, a member of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary microbiota that causes diseases in the host. This species is the leading cause of severe neonatal infections, named early-onset disease (EOD), occurring in the first week of life and late-onset disease (LOD), between 7 days and 3 months [1].
