Ticket and Tow: Address Unlicensed RVS, Ovs on Washington Boulevard
My previous Argonaut articles have addressed the fact the City of Los Angeles has failed to use available laws to ticket and tow the illegally parked, dilapidated and unlicensed RVs and OVs on Washington Boulevard in Venice. See my past articles: “Open Letter to LAPD Captain Eppolito Requesting the City to Ticket and Tow the RVs and OVs” (Argonaut 11/5/25); “No Excuse: Enforce the Law Against Illegally Parked RVs, OVs.” (Argonaut 4/23/26).
No Excuse: Enforce the law against illegally parked RVs, OVs
Dilapidated and occupied RVs and OVs illegally park on both sides of Washington Boulevard between Marr and Ocean. They often park in front of signs limiting parking and expired parking meters. Most constitute nuisances. There is ample authority to end this problem under the California Vehicle Code and the Los Angeles Municipal Code, but in Traci Park’s Council District 11 the City has failed to use this authority against occupied vehicles. On Nov.
Ticket Illegal Parking: Washington Blvd. residents, businesses petition city to act regarding RVs, OVs
On Oct. 3, 48 businesses and residents on Washington Boulevard in Venice filed a Petition with CD 11 Councilwoman Traci Park requesting the City to immediately ticket the Recreational Vehicles (RVs) and Oversized Vehicles (OVs) which continually and illegally park on Washington Boulevard and its adjoining streets to the detriment of the people who live and work there.
Guest Column: Ticket the unlicensed, unsafe RVs
RVs (recreational vehicles) and OVs (oversized vehicles) line the north and south sides of Washington Boulevard between Marr and Palawan where they park for days without moving. They also park on adjacent streets, including Marr and Oxford. The Venice Neighborhood Council recently passed a motion which it sent to Councilwoman Park that identifies the harmful impacts these vehicles have on the residents and businesses on and near Washington.
Opinion: Venice has no legal excuse not to remove homeless
On April 8, Sean Silva, Traci Park’s Venice deputy, emailed community activist, Mark Ryavec, who complained about the homeless camping in tents and vehicles around the post office. Sean Silva tried to explain why the city has not forced homeless persons to vacate the spaces and vehicles they occupy after the city has offered shelter to them. He stated in part: “Unfortunately, the city cannot compel any individual to accept offers of services or housing.

Opinion: Venice Neighborhood Council homeless enforcement motion sabotaged
Everyone in Venice knows there is a serious issue with homeless individuals camping in tents, makeshift shelters and RVs and OVs on various streets in the area. This has been going on for months. At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at a Zoom meeting, the board of the Venice Neighborhood Council was scheduled to consider and vote on a motion for prompt and effective city action on homelessness, RVs and OVs on the streets identified in the motion. (The motion is set forth verbatim below.) At 4:15 p.m. Jan.
Opinion: The mess on Marr is unacceptable
Since before July, the city has done nothing about the “Mess on Marr Street” in Venice caused by homeless campers, despite endless phone calls, emails and pleas from the people who live and work there. Marr Street is largely hidden. It parallels Abbot Kinney, north of Washington Boulevard. The streets merge at a gas station and a mini mall at their south ends. Apartments border the east side of Marr near Washington.
Reduce Homelessness With the Mayor’s Directives and the Vacant Parcels at LAX
The City can quickly reduce homelessness with the Mayor’s Executive Directives for Inside Safe and Emergency Use of City Property and the large, vacant parcels of land the City owns at LAX.
Column: Vacant Parcels at LAX Are Necessary for Mayor’s Inside Safe Initiative
By Clark Brown Venice has a massive homelessness problem, as everyone knows. Hence, it is important to carefully examine the Mayor’s Declaration of Local Emergency (Declaration) and Inside Safe Initiative (Initiative) to assess how effective they will be in addressing homelessness, particularly in Venice, which currently has 981 homeless. This is more than any other community in Los Angeles except skid row and Hollywood.
End the fires, move homeless to vacant lots near LAX
During the week of Oct. 16 there were two fires in a vacant house on Flower Avenue in Oakwood. Neighbors saw and heard transients camping and partying in the house shortly before both fires. There is a large homeless encampment a block away on the corner of Flower and Lincoln. On Oct. 2, there was a fire in the Canals, which destroyed a house under construction and seriously damaged two neighboring houses. A neighbor saw transients in the house under construction shortly before the fire.

Nelly Furtado 'The Ride'
Nelly Furtado’s artistic identity has bounced around wildly in her two decades of stardom, in which she has released 6 studio albums. The latest, ‘The Ride’, maintains Furtado’s trademark soft melodies and pop hooks whilst simultaneously taking a leap into the unknown with its production, landing it somewhere artistically different to that song we all know and ‘Maneater’.
Esteban Alvarez 'Tico Groove'
Jazz and instrumental music seem to be ever-present within the music happenings of today, most notably coming to a crescendo within the last half a decade or so — with the likes of Snarky Puppy reeling in the Grammys year after year and Hans Zimmer and Ludovico Einaudi selling out venues that any mainstream artist would be proud of.
