Prototyping with transparent videos
y_toku February 15, 2024, 1:37am 21 Hi all, Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding transparent videos. After consulting with our internal product team, they have confirmed that transparent videos are currently not supported. We are aware of these feedback we have received and while we cannot guarantee it, our team may consider this for future enhancements. Thanks, Toku

You can apply CSS to your Pen from any stylesheet on the web. Just put a URL to it here and we'll apply it, in the order you have them, before the CSS in the Pen itself. If the stylesheet you link to has the file extension of a preprocessor, we'll attempt to process it before applying. You can also link to another Pen here, and we'll pull the CSS from that Pen and include it.
5 simple UX principles to guide your product design
Few things in life are constant: death, taxes, and strangers asking “So what do you do?” within a minute of a handshake. As a UX designer, I’ve had a lot of practice over the years trying to nail down my answer. Here’s what I’ve come up with: It’s my job to be inside a user’s brain. I need to look at design from the mindspace of a user (actually, lots of users) and squash potential problems or confusion.

Mood boards are for more than inspiration - InVision Blog
I am a UX designer. That’s fun to say, because it’s a job that didn’t really exist a few years ago. I’ve worked with dozens of startups and small teams, so I’m used to my role and tools changing with each new team—and sometimes with each new release. But when a tool or process stands the test of time, it makes things all the more interesting. Enter mood boards, the secret weapon I’ve carried from gig to gig for years.
Reimagining the web design process - InVision Blog
Gone are days of design projects that have a concrete list of deliverables. As web design and development continues to evolve, static web pages don’t cut it anymore. Stephen Hay said it best: “We’re not designing pages, we’re designing systems of components.” Our designs need to stay ahead of the rapidly changing device landscape and content types, which show no signs of slowing down. The old design process is getting an overhaul.
Sketch for front-end developers, part 1 - InVision Blog
Editor’s note: This is the first of 2 posts on Sketch for front-end developers. Read part 2 here. As a front-end developer, finally getting passed a design file is a big moment for me. There’s lot to explore, busily digging into every little corner of what I’ll be spending my next few weeks on. That Christmas-morning excitement is easily dashed when someone sends me a file from a program I’m not super familiar with.

InVision for JIRA—Tackle issues together - InVision Blog
Designers work one way. Developers work another. And that middle space between the 2 affects everything from deadlines to attitudes. It’s why we have kickoffs and standups and quick huddles. It’s practically a contact sport. It’s also why we’re excited to announce our partnership with Atlassian and introduce InVision for JIRA, a new way to bring your design workflow right inside the development tool your team already relies on.
UX design tips for your app, part 1 - InVision Blog
A gorgeous app with poor UX isn’t a gorgeous app—it’s an invitation to frustration. Your users deserve better than that. The UX design tips in this article aren’t groundbreaking. Hopefully, you will already be familiar with most (if not all) of them. But for some reason or other—maybe due to oversight or perhaps we were given unrealistic project deadlines—we sometimes neglect these crucial UX design considerations. Here are a few tips that will help enhance your app’s UX.
Consistency Please! Style Guides in Sketch
Product design is a team sport. The best teams tend to have lots of moving parts: designers and developers and managers and researchers all working in concert on a single, refined vision. All those moving pieces come with a cost, though, in the form of meetings, emails, and file versioning—all things we do in order to stay on the same page.

Getting Started With UI Kits Fast
Nobody likes to admit that, but when you’re coming from a fast moving product background, speed is often the difference between a big launch and a big missed opportunity. As a developer, I cut corners with ready-made libraries. Awesome chunks of code built ahead of time by folks much smarter and sturdier than me. As a designer, I use UI kits. If you’re not familiar, UI stands for user interface, which is what we call the visual pieces that make up an application or product.
UX design tips for your app, part 2 - InVision Blog
Let’s continue talking about the user experience in the context of apps. Tips such as making the UX adapt to the user, network-awareness, onboarding, and other concepts related to the user experience were covered in the first segment of this article series. Here are a few other UX tips to consider. While a few complex interaction options—for example, the augmented pull-to-refresh gesture—can add some real depth to your app for power users, they don’t do much for me during a first-run experience.
Design planning done right - InVision Blog
This is an excerpt from Design Workflow with Sketch, a 10-part InVision e-course by Clark Wimberly. Before we can jump into the tastier design details, a good amount of project planning has to happen. From the kickoff meeting to the first design review, there’s a ton going on, and the designer should be on top of it all. Design is collaborative. It hasn’t always been that way, but the modern designer has more influence (and influencers) than ever.
6 tips for successful design critiques
Few things are more stressful than a design critique. From that pressure, though, comes new viewpoints, action items, and an overall tighter product. I believe a successful design incorporates lots of viewpoints, and critiques are a great way to collect those opinions. Design reviews should happen early and often. Collaboration is one of the hallmarks of the new design process. No longer can designers disappear into a hole for 6 months, reemerging only when a pristine set of PSDs is ready.
