I vividly remember the first time he tried to explain Twilio to me. As for many others, it took a few lessons to get Twilio, but I quickly knew Jeff Lawson was a visionary.

At least twice in recent weeks, I’ve heard manufacturers explain that new products debuting at the upcoming InfoComm 2026 are specifically targeting the smaller huddle room market because of the enormous number of unequipped meeting spaces around the world. The theory is simple. Millions upon millions of rooms still lack proper collaboration technology, and whichever manufacturer finally “gets it right” stands to unlock one of the largest untapped markets in enterprise technology.

I never thought I’d voluntarily disconnect a phone line. As someone who started his career at AT&T headquarters, learning the history, structure, and mythology of “the Bell System,” the idea almost feels sacrilegious. Somewhere, a retired Bell Labs engineer probably just sensed a disturbance in the force. But after decades of paying for a “landline” that wasn’t really a landline anymore, I finally called Verizon and shut it off.
