The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas raised its target reverse repurchase rate by a quarter point to 5% on Thursday, as expected by 20 of 25 economists in a Bloomberg News survey. The rest expected a hold.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will increase the target reverse repurchase rate by 25 basis points to 5% on Thursday, according to 20 of 25 analysts in a poll. The rest expected the BSP to stand pat.

Philippine regulator targets stock brokers in next reform push

MANILA (Bloomberg): The Philippines’ corporate regulator is looking to increase the minimum capital requirement for stock brokers as it forges ahead with reforms despite pushback from some market participants. The Securities and Exchange Commission may increase the capital requirement for stock brokers to more than 100 million pesos ($1.6 million), an amount set 25 years ago, Chairman Francis Lim said in a briefing on Monday. "We found out that those that misbehaved had small capital,” Lim said.
