Positive Airway Pressure Therapy Initiation and Continued Benzodiazepine Use Among Chronic Drug Users
1 Introduction Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and insomnia frequently overlap in individuals, with estimates of concurrent OSA among individuals with insomnia ranging from 30% to 70% (Luyster et al. 2010). There is limited supportive evidence that treating OSA can improve concomitant patient-reported insomnia symptoms (Alemohammad et al. 2022; Björnsdóttir et al. 2013; Guilleminault et al. 2008; Krakow et al. 2004; Krakow et al. 2006; Krakow et al. 2019; Lundetræ et al.

1 Introduction Cannabis is the most frequently consumed illicit drug world-wide and its usage is rising (UNODC 2022). Cannabis has been fairly recently decriminalised in a number of jurisdictions, including multiple states in the United States and in Canada, which has further facilitated its uptake in the population (UNODC 2022).
Longer-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA)-related healthcare: a province-based study
Discussion In this population-based study, we described trends in OSA-related health services through nearly 3 years after the COVID-19 pandemic began. After a marked decrease during the initial pandemic phase compared with pre-pandemic levels, we observed incomplete recovery of OSA-related health service rates for PSGs and PAP claims by December 2022.
Cannabis use and risks of respiratory and all-cause morbidity and mortality: a population-based, data-linkage, cohort study
Discussion Our primary outcome, odds of respiratory-related ER visits or hospitalisations, was not significantly greater among cannabis users than the the control group in either the overall cohort, or in any of our sensitivity analyses.
Association of clinically significant obstructive sleep apnoea with risks of contracting COVID-19 and serious COVID-19 complications: a retrospective population-based study of health administrative data
Abstract Rationale/objectives Despite plausible pathophysiological mechanisms, more research is needed to confirm the relationship between obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and the risk of COVID-19 infection or COVID-19-related serious complications. Methods We conducted a retrospective population-based cohort study using provincial health administrative data (Ontario, Canada).
Association of clinically significant obstructive sleep apnoea with risks of contracting COVID-19 and serious COVID-19 complications: a retrospective population-based study of health administrative data
Methods Study design We conducted a retrospective population-based study using provincial health administrative data (Ontario, Canada) from adults alive at the start of the pandemic and living in Ontario in the 5 years before the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2015–March 2020). We considered 17 March 2020, when a state of emergency was declared in Ontario, as the start of the pandemic (index date). Individuals were followed up until 31 March 2021, or death, whichever came first.
Cannabis use and risks of respiratory and all-cause morbidity and mortality: a population-based, data-linkage, cohort study
Methods Study design This was a retrospective, population-based cohort study, linking health survey data with multiple Ontario health administrative databases, for January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2015. All databases are held and were analysed at ICES (formerly known as the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences).
