Allez Les Blues, by Los Campesinos!
I pushed your head down, flat onto the page I held the weapon, flat against your face I remembered the promise that I had made and turned the pen back onto myself So you can stick your words of comfort and you can take your well wishes too We’re singing “allez les blues” Cause they hold me closer than you would ever do Allez les blues I know your shape and I know your size You are the weight of the concrete boots that pulled me under the tide And now you're marching on to a different drum,...
TX, '98, by Flight Mode
1. Sixteen lies. The last with a sigh. There's a reason I've been changing; layers peeling. Take 12 steps, get it off your chest. I know how you've been aching to say you're feeling that there's a skyline to the south, but your memory is ironed out in the valleys of my doubts. In the rearview there's a line. Those sentences I denied I ever claimed as mine. ‘Cause we're just stealing. You're always late, but I'll be there at eight, standing in the back as the band starts playing. Straight to the core.

Between their debut, Turning On in 2010 (recently reissued to commemorate the anniversary of its first arrival) and 2018’s Last Building Burning, they released a total of seven albums, including 2015’s collaboration with Wavves, No Life for Me. They have been a one-label band, except for the Wavves release, working with Carpark Records.

Love Touched Time and Time Began to Sweat, by Pool Holograph
Beginning as Wyatt Grant’s bedroom project around a decade ago, he says Pool Holograph “the band” was not realized until the joining of Zach Stuckmann (bass), and brothers Jacob and Paul Stolz (percussion and lead guitar) in 2015. Since that point, the group maintained a consistent presence in Chicago’s indie music scene, while just as consistently reconstructing their sound and ethos.

The best albums of the week from The Chicks, Illuminati Hotties, and more
It’s hard to square the whiplash of sensational music and celebrity news in the context of every other paralyzing news development. This week brought some stories that would otherwise hog a cycle with rapid velocity.
Billboard just made it harder to cheat your way into a no. 1 single
On Monday, Billboard announced plans to make a major change when calculating the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 chart scores. After years of artists bundling album or single sales with concert tickets and merchandise, Billboard will no longer count those releases toward charting. The loophole has been utilized far and wide by major artists chasing chart-toppers in the past five years, and Billboard has yet to set a start date for the new restrictions.
Kanye West gets his first presidential endorsement in Chance the Rapper
On Monday morning, Chance the Rapper burst into a tweetstorm defense of Kanye West’s dubious presidential candidacy. It started when Chance quote-tweeted a new Kanye song called “DONDA,” released on Sunday to honor West’s late mother’s birthday. “And yall out here tryna convince me to vote for Biden. Smfh,” Chance wrote, implying that the ability to write a good song has some bearing on Kanye’s White House qualifications.
GREATEST HITS VOL. 1, by Soul Blind
Soul Blind’s sound brings to mind the heavy guitar rock of the 90’s, their sound is a dreamy fuzz-pedal trudge that exists somewhere on the continuum between grunge and shoegaze. Bands like Failure, Hum, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead and The Deftones can be heard in their sound. Those influences are all displayed on their new record entitled "Greatest Hits Vol. 1", which compiles all of their recorded material.
The best albums of the week, from Margo Price, Juice WRLD, and more
What a messy week for music news! Kanye’s presidential campaign of dubious legitimacy surged forward, unloading some policies virulent enough for his pal Elon Musk to reconsider. The darkest part undergirding all of this is the indication that he’s in a dire mental space right now. Playing out alongside this, Lady A, the white country music trio, sued Lady A, the Black blues singer, for refusing to back down in the fight over their name debacle.

Attack On Memory, by Cloud Nothings
Cloud Nothings was founded in a Cleveland basement, the one-man recording project of Dylan Baldi.
