(Note that this article uses the term Black to refer to individuals identified in AICPA and US Census Bureau reporting as Black/African American.) Only 6–7% of Black students graduate with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, and just 4–5% of new hires in CPA firms are Black.
