Coinbase becomes one of just a few companies to receive the e-money licence, which will enable us to expand our Irish operation and ultimately deliver a better product to customers across some of our fastest-growing markets. At the end of 2018, we announced our first step into Ireland with a new office in Dublin — one of the capitals of Europe’s burgeoning cryptoeconomy. Today, we are happy to announce that we have been granted an e-money licence by the Central Bank of Ireland.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve successfully transitioned our payment systems for UK customers, and domestic GBP bank transfers are now fully reinstated. As a part of this update we’re adding full support for five assets — BAT, ZRX, REP, XLM, and XRP. You can now buy, sell, and trade them using your GBP wallet, funded by a GBP bank account or credit/debit card. We’d like to thank all our customers for their patience during this period whilst we’ve been completing this essential work.
