1 Introduction Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is an immunosuppressive infection caused either by HIV-1 or HIV-2 [1]. HIV-1 is known to cause global infections [2] while HIV-2 is limited to West Africa [1], though minimal cases have been found in other parts of the world, such as other parts of Africa, Europe, India, and the United States [1]. However, in Ghana, HIV-1 infections predominate [3] which is tested and confirmed in two stages.
