Plant-Earthworm Interaction Favors Invasive Alien Plants Over Natives in Cd‐Contaminated Environments
1 Introduction Heavy metal (HM) contamination poses a serious threat to global biodiversity and human health (Xie et al. 2016; Siddig et al. 2025). Cadmium (Cd) is considered the most harmful among many HMs due to its high toxicity and bioavailability (Ali et al. 2015). The input of Cd into soil and water comes primarily from combustion discharge, sewage sludge, landfill, and mining (Gupta and Nayak 2012; Kubier et al. 2019; Zeng et al. 2021; Shi et al. 2022).
