Fire crews remain on Slievenamon, Co Tipperary today as they continue to monitor a major wildfire following several days of intense operations. Across southern Europe, firefighters have also battled large blazes fuelled by extreme heat and dry conditions.

The family of Ireland's Fittest Family contestant Cillian Flaherty have spoken about the sudden death of the 15-year-old, who was later found to have died from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS), a condition linked to abnormal heart rhythms. Cillian, from Blanchardstown in Dublin, was found dead in bed by his father on Monday, 21 October 2024, just days before his family's scheduled appearance on the RTÉ programme.

Children are openly selling illegal drugs in Ireland's towns and cities, while some as young as seven years old are being groomed into working as drug mules, according to workers who deal with drug users and affected communities. They say it is a nationwide issue and a particular problem in Dublin.
