Dear Dr Rosenberg, My wife has relied on prescription medication for sleep for years. She is on her iPad and cell phone in bed. One by one the medications stop working and she requests something stronger from our provider. Any ideas? A: Yes, your wife needs to improve her sleep hygiene. Electronic devices need to be turned off at least 90 minutes before bedtime. She needs to find something calming before bedtime such as reading, listening to music, meditating or prayer.

Dear Dr Rosenberg: I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and placed on a CPAP machine. My friend has sleep apnea and is on a BIPAP machine. What is the difference? A: The CPAP maintains a constant pressure in your throat to keep it from collapsing. The BIPAP maintains a constant pressure too. However, when it senses you are inhaling it adds more pressure briefly to make the inhalation easier. It decreases the work of breathing and is better tolerated in some people who find it hard to breathe in on CPAP.

I would sing along to the Beetles or Chubby Checker. I would yell out "Tequilla!" not knowing what it was. My tastes were limited to my parent's radio stations at that point.
