It's a known trait of the fantasy genre that narrative momentum can take a little while to kick in. The genre brings with it so many characters, clans, and countries, not to mention a giant stack of lore and lofty worldbuilding, that the first chapter is typically tasked with setting the stage before any realm-shattering events can take place.

While Alien: Earth couldn't quite garner universal acclaim, splitting audiences into avid supporters and despairing detractors, critical opinion proved overwhelmingly positive, and the series did enough to earn itself a second season. In such a competitive arena, that last part is an achievement to be proud of by itself. Without question, Alien: Earth came out of the gate strong. A raft of freaky monsters, xenomorph included. An all-star cast featuring Timothy Olyphant.

Battlestar Galactica is unquestionably one of the best space operas of all time, but it's also one of the biggest. Incorporating multiple human colonies, fallen civilizations, a race of sentient cyborgs, and literal gods, the Ronald D. Moore remake delves into both the scientific and the mystical to deliver a story of great scope and even greater scale.
