An update on how we adjust our Speed Figures for Pace Posted on April 14, 2020 by Craig Milkowski Beginning with races run on April 1st, 2020, races coded with the ‘p’ label still reflect the pace adjustment in the overall TimeformUS Speed Figure, but the internal pace and final time figures will show what we feel the horses actually ran based on the other races on the day.

The times are converted to numbers, and the numbers fit together perfectly, like a jigsaw puzzle. This is not just within one race but spanning across all the races. Typically, handicappers who use speed figures like that as well. The figures match the times. They can see why one horse got an 80 and another a 75.

TimeformUS Pace Projector – the new “No Speed” label Posted on June 10, 2019 by Craig Milkowski The TimeformUS Pace Projector previously had three options for describing the likely early pace of a race: ‘Fast Pace’, ‘Favors Horses On/Near the Early Lead’, and choosing not to display any label, which is the most common occurrence. All of these options are derived from an algorithm that considers horses’ running styles, their Adjusted Fractions, and other factors.
