Two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides offer strong potential for high-performance sensing of hazardous gases, such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NO x ), or sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), because of their high surface activities, tunable electronic properties, and high surface-to-volume ratio, which favors a dramatic change in resistivity upon molecular adsorption.
