Luke Murray, Boston College Men’s Basketball Lands Commitment from Elijah Paez
Eagles fans were hoping for a commitment on Wednesday evening. They got one—but from an unexpected source. While Boston College awaited the verdict from 6’5 guard Josiah Nance, who was choosing between BC, SMU, USC, and Wake Forest, Elijah Paez announced his commitment to Boston College a few hours before Nance was set to make his decision (he ultimately committed to SMU) Who is Paez, and where did this commitment come from?
Pitt vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction
Boston College returns to action this weekend against the undefeated Pitt Panthers, and I simply do not know what to take. There are just too many unknowns to make me comfortable with the line (at time of writing -6.5). At the top of that list is, of course, the season-ending ACL injury to Pitt’s star QB, Mason Heintschel. With backup Holden Geriner set to take over, no one really knows how this offense will change with Geriner under center.
Season Preview: Is BC Men’s Hockey a Contender? Original
Steve: I’ve been going to these games for most of my life and I just have so many great memories from watching all the different iterations of this team and I can’t wait to make some new ones. This is almost always a fun team to watch even when they’re not elite and I think this is going to be another entertaining season with a lot to enjoy Curtis: We’ve come along way since the middling late 2010s and early 2020s.
Boston College Football vs. SMU: Betting Preview & Prediction Original
After last week’s fourth-quarter meltdown against Virginia Tech, Boston College is back in action on the road against SMU. After covering last week’s 14.5-point spread against the Hokies, BC rolls into Dallas as 20.5 point dogs. Simply put: I’m not feeling great about this one. I know BC covered against Tech and arguably should have emerged with a win, but I think there are several mitigating factors that suggest SMU is the play here. Firstly, the nor’easter without a doubt benefited BC.
Boston College Comes Up Short, 21-14, to Virginia Tech Original
On Saturday afternoon, Boston College lost 21-14 to Virginia Tech. The storyline on everyone’s mind heading into this contest was the weather. With a nor’easter rolling into town on Saturday morning, the game was played in constant rain and gusty wind. The conditions drilled both teams, especially in the first half. We did not see a converted third down for either team—let alone points—until under a minute to go in the second quarter.
Gamethread: Virginia Tech vs. Boston College Football Original
On Saturday, Boston College opens ACC play against Virginia Tech. With a nor’easter raging in Chestnut Hill, both teams will look for a strong start to conference play. Who: Virginia Tech Hokies (3-0) vs. Boston College Eagles (2-1) Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA When: Saturday September 26th, 2026 How to Watch: ACC Network
Rutgers vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction Original
Boston College Football is 0-1 on the season, and I’m 0-1 on my picks. I’ll strive to be better this week as Rutgers arrives in Chestnut Hill to take on the Eagles. Of course, this will be an emotional game for both programs, with the Friday night kickoff coinciding with the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
Boston College Football vs. Cincinnati: Betting Preview & Prediction
Boston College Football is back! And with it, of course, comes my weekly (and perhaps less-than-stellar) betting column. In this NIL-and-portal dominated era of college football, the first week is particularly challenging, because nobody knows anything. National media does not know which teams pegged as contenders will actually emerge as such. Coaches do not know how strong their rosters actually are.
BC Football Summer Preview: Running Backs Original
Like many other position groups on this 2026/2027 Boston College Football roster, the running backs group looks very different. Leading rusher Turbo Richard (145 carries, 749 yards, 9 TDs in 2025) is off to Indiana, Jordan McDonald (94 carries, 397 yards, 4 TDs in 2025) has exhausted his eligibility, and longtime program stalwart Alex Broome (7 carries, 10 yards, 1 TD in 2025) is gone as well. That is a lot of production to replace.
Boston College Baseball’s Season Comes to an End With 8-3 Loss to Liberty Original
Arguably the best season in Boston College Baseball’s recent history has come to a close. In a rematch of Friday’s regional opener against Liberty, the Eagles fell 8-3. After jumping out ahead 2-0 in the first inning, Boston College struggled for the next eight innings to generate any consistent offense. Liberty, meanwhile, broke through in the third and cruised to the win. The afternoon actually started positively for Birdball.
Boston College Men’s Basketball’s Boden Kapke Declares Intent to Transfer Original
On Saturday morning, news broke that Boston College F Boden Kapke will not be returning to the Heights next year. Kapke came to BC last offseason after a pair of seasons at Butler. He started the year on the bench before working his way into the starting rotation, and he was BC’s third-leading scorer at 10.6 points per game, to go with 5.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists.
Luke Murray Officially Introduced as Boston College Men’s Basketball Head Coach Original
On Tuesday afternoon, Luke Murray officially took the helm of the Boston College Men’s Basketball program, addressing the media at his introductory press conference. With Boston College entering a new era, here are three of my takeaways from the conference: This program is going to look different, on and off the court Murray made that very clear. Off the court, Murray talked extensively about turning the perception of the program around.
Coach Candidate: Could Eric Olen Find Success on the East Coast? Original
We’re getting close to hiring time. If Matt Norlander is to be believed, Boston College is aiming to have its next head coach in place within the next few days. The names linked to the job continue to fluctuate, but one guy whose name cropped up relatively later in the process has potentially remained in the pack: Eric Olen. Olen, 45, is in his 13th season as a head coach.
Coach Candidate: Joe Gallo’s Name is Everywhere. Why? Original
Joe Gallo’s name was linked to the Boston College job virtually the second Grant was fired (and even earlier than that, if we are being honest with ourselves). The interest seems to be real, as Gallo has reportedly interviewed for the job already. What would he bring to BC? Gallo, 46, played for Merrimack for four years, graduating in 2004. He joined the Warriors’ staff the following year as an assistant, and remained in that role until 2009.
Coach Candidate: Is Luke Murray the Answer? Original
Now that we’ve established who some of the names BC could be looking at are, BCI is going to do some more in-depth profiles for some of those names. We begin with Luke Murray, whose name has been linked to not just the BC job but also that of Providence and Syracuse. According to his boss, Dan Hurley, the UConn assistant is more than prepared for a head coaching gig of his own. Could BC be his next stop? Murray began his coaching career in 2008 at Post University.
Trey Beamer Decommits from Boston College Men’s Basketball Original
On Thursday evening, Boston College’s lone signee for the 2026 recruiting class requested and received a release from his NLI. IMG Academy’s Beamer, a 6’3 point guard from Brandenton, FL, was the second-highest rated recruit in program history and the highest of former coach Earl Grant’s tenure. Grant’s departure left doubt hanging over Beamer’s future; he has now decided to reopen his commitment.
The Earl Grant Era is Over. Who Could Replace Him? Original
On Sunday afternoon, the Earl Grant era at Boston College came to an end. Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 broke the news that Grant had been fired; Athletic Director Blake James confirmed the decision in an official announcement a few hours later. Grant’s firing had felt like a matter of when, not if, for quite a while now. Many had called for his dismissal after his 2024/2025 squad finished 12-19.
Boston College Men’s Basketball Keeps ACC Tournament Hopes Alive, Defeats Notre Dame 77-69 Original
On Saturday afternoon, Boston College picked up their fourth ACC win of the season, 77-69, over Notre Dame. It was a rough start for both teams. Notre Dame’s Cole Certa missed several good looks from downtown, while the Eagles committed several poor turnovers; we did not see the game’s first points until almost three minutes into the game. BC looked to get to the paint early, driving at the rack and getting Kapke some touches down low.
Boston College Men’s Basketball Survives Late Scare, Beats Wake Forest 68-67 Original
On Wednesday evening, Boston College defeated Wake Forest 68-67. It was an ugly first five minutes for both teams. Fred Payne missed three quick shots, while the Eagles turned the ball over multiple times. Wake Forest was arguably worse, connecting on only one of their first eight shots and giving up multiple second-chance opportunities. Star sophomore Juke Harris kept Wake afloat early, collecting their first eight points.
Gamethread: Wake Forest vs. Boston College Men’s Basketball Original
After this weekend’s blizzard forced a rescheduling, the Eagles will take on the Demon Deacons tonight in Conte. A win for BC would not take them out of the bottom three, but would be a massive step for a team just hoping to make the ACC Tournament. Who: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (14-13, 5-9 ACC) vs.
Boston College Men’s Basketball Collapses in the Second Half, Falls 80-72 to FSU Original
On Tuesday evening, Boston College lost 80-72 to Florida State. Boston College controlled the tip, but after a Luka Toews turnover it was FSU who opened the scoring with a tough stepback jumper in the midrange. The first five minutes saw a lot of run-and-gun action from both teams. Fred Payne missed his first shot — a forced midrange jumper — but quickly rebounded with a long 2 and another 3, while Toews hit a wing 3 of his own.

Boston College Men’s Basketball Falls, 73-66, to #17 Virginia Original
On Saturday afternoon, Boston College lost a hard-fought affair with #17 Virginia. Boston College actually came out strong in this one, leading for the entirety of the first half. Virginia — a strong 3-point shooting team — only connected on 2/16 from downtown in the first half; leading scorer Thijs De Ridder only had a couple of buckets in the first 20 minutes. Fred Payne led the way for the Eagles early on, connecting on a tough and-1 trey to race out to a quick 11 points.

Curran’s Corner Three: The Point Guard Conundrum and Aidan Shaw in Transition Original
Boston College picked up its first two ACC wins of the season in dramatic fashion against Syracuse and Pitt, before a disappointing road loss after blowing a 13-point second-half lead against Notre Dame. With a matchup against #17 Virginia looming, here are three things on my mind: The Point Guard Conundrum We are now 11 games into the Luka Toews experiment, to largely mixed results.

Boston College Football Offensive Coordinator, Will Lawing, Departs Program Original
On Tuesday morning, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported that Boston College’s OC, Will Lawing, is leaving the program. Zenitz reported the Chicago Bears as “a potential landing spot.” Lawing has been on staff with Bill O’Brien since 2012 at Penn State; Lawing followed O’Brien through stops with the Houston Texans, the University of Alabama, and the New England Patriots. He was hired as O’Brien’s offensive coordinator in 2024.
Boston College Men’s Basketball Shakes its OT Demons, Beats Syracuse 81-73 Original
On Saturday afternoon, Boston College defeated Syracuse in overtime, 81-73. After controlling the opening tip, Syracuse nearly got off to a thunderous start with a well-designed look to get an alley-oop at the rim, but a nice read by Boden Kapke blew the play up. Nevertheless, Hastings got schooled by some good footwork, allowing the Orange to draw first blood. By the first media timeout, the Orange held an early 7-4 advantage.

Curran’s Corner Three: Grant’s Lineup Experimentation and Fred Payne’s Righty Floater Original
Boston College has gone 2-2 since my last column, and with two ACC matchups now in the books it’s time for another column. Let’s get into it: The offense is struggling against better competition. I know, I know, big shocker. Yet the level to which we are seeing offensive struggles through two ACC games is very, very concerning.
Curran’s Corner Three: D.J. Hand, Late Game Struggles Hurting BC Men’s Basketball Original
After far too long, I am back! Apologies – I would have liked to get started on these weekly columns at least five or six games ago, but alas, here we are. BC is nearly finished with its non-conference slate. Contests against FDU on Monday, 12/22 and against Le Moyne on Sunday, 12/28 will be the last two non-conference matchups before ACC play gets underway. All that to say: we have more than a large-enough sample size to make some claims about this team.
Boston College Men’s Basketball Comes from Behind, Defeats New Haven 67-63 Original
On Saturday afternoon, Boston College escaped with a 67-63 over New Haven. After controlling the tip, Boston College proceeded to turn the ball over without getting a shot. The new starting lineup looked a little choppy on the offensive end, without scoring a bucket until the 16:50 mark via a Toews triple. He followed up the trey with his patented midrange pull-up, but despite his five early points BC continued to look out of sorts.
Gamethread: New Haven Chargers vs. Boston College Men’s Basketball Original

Boston College Men’s Basketball Defeats Harvard, 73-60 Original
Boston College beat Harvard this evening, winning 73-60. BC’s offense was humming in the first half. Fred Payne, especially, was on fire; he hit 3s in the half and hit some tough off-the-dribble jumpers as well. Forte and Hand both hit a first-half 3, as did Aidan Shaw. BC was able to build a nice 5-point lead by the second media timeout, before really hitting their stride and pushing the lead to as much as 13 midway through the first half.
#16 Georgia Tech vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction Original
Only two games left. This nightmare of a season will be over soon! Unfortunately, BC’s last home game will feature another ranked opponent in the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. Be prepared for another bloodbath. Frankly, there’s not much more to be said about this disaster of a season. Who knows who will start at QB? At least once we know who’s starting between James and Lonergan, we can pencil in the “backup” as the guy who will likely get the most snaps.
Boston College Wins Home Opener, 76-47, against The Citadel Original
Boston College overcame a slow start on Thursday night to win their home opener, 76-47, over the Citadel. After controlling the opening tip, the Citadel started their night with a splashed triple to open the scoring. The first four minutes of the game featured some choppy offensive basketball; BC drew 6 fouls before the first media timeout against some early 2-3 zone looks from the Citadel. Despite some decent looks, the Eagles started 0-9 from the field.

SMU vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction Original
Well, of course BC had to look somewhat competitive in the Holy War — before crumbling once again in the second half and yet somehow still cover. That is just the kind of season we are in. This year’s rendition of the Red Bandanna Game sees SMU come to town in what is quickly becoming somewhat of a rivalry between these two schools. BC’s offense turned back to Dylan Lonergan at QB against Notre Dame, only to pull him after a handful of drives in favor of Grayson James.
Season Preview: Boston College Men’s Basketball Roundtable Original
Tonight, the Boston College men’s basketball team tips off their season against FAU. Let’s talk about our hopes, dreams, and expectations for how this year could play out. What gets you most excited looking ahead to this season? Curran: A cohesive roster. Grant said at ACC Tipoff that he and his staff knew exactly what they were looking for when they hit the portal this offseason.
Boston College Men’s Basketball: Meet the Sophomores Original
Name: Fred Payne Position: Guard Year: Redshirt sophomore Number: 5 Height: 6’1” Hometown: Grambling, LA Last Season: Payne suffered a season-ending knee injury early on in his freshman year. He made a successful comeback last year, earning significant rotation minutes in the backcourt. In my opinion, by the end of the season he deserved to start over Dion Brown at the 2. He showcased some crafty finishing at the rack and a strong 3-point shot while playing strong perimeter defense.
#12 Notre Dame vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction
Oh boy. After the Eagles’ 7th consecutive loss this past weekend, the best team on Boston College’s schedule arrives in Chestnut Hill for the 26th rendition of the Holy War. With the line sitting at ND -28.5 and the O/U at 56.5, let’s get into it: Put simply, this game could get very ugly, very quickly. Even at full strength, the Eagles can’t match Notre Dame on a talent level.
Boston College Men’s Basketball: Meet the Seniors Original
We are officially one week away from the return of Boston College men’s hoops. After Men’s Hockey suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Denver and Football suffered its seventh straight loss, Earl Grant’s squad is at least giving me something to look forward to on the horizon.
Boston College Football vs. #19 Louisville: Betting Preview & Prediction Original
Boston College fell to a new low this past Saturday, once again collapsing in the second half to lose by two scores to regional rival UConn. Things continue to look bleaker for the Eagles, as a road trip to Kentucky looms with a ranked Louisville squad. With the line sitting at Louisville -25.5 and the O/U at 55.5, let’s get into it: Simply put, there is very little — if anything — in the Eagles program that brings hope.
UConn vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction Original
After another walloping — this time at the hands of Clemson — Boston College limps into another home date this Saturday. With regional rivals UConn coming into town, the line currently sits at BC -1.5 with the O/U at 58.5, let’s get into it: I’ll keep this short and sweet. Until BC proves it has stopped the bleeding and figures out some semblance of a rhythm on both sides of the ball, there is no reason to pick them.
Boston College Men’s Basketball: Season Preview and Roster Breakdown
We are officially less than a month away from the return of Boston College basketball (literally 24 hours if you count the exhibition contest against UConn on Monday night). With hoops right around the corner, (and football continuing to disappoint), I wanted to put together an in-depth (projected) preview of the Eagles’ lineup this season, along with some thoughts on what the Eagles’ system and style of play could look like.
Clemson vs. Boston College Football: Betting Preview & Prediction
We’re back. After last week’s demolition, the Eagles return to the Heights with a night kickoff against Clemson. With the Tigers sitting at -14.5 and the O/U set at 55.5, let’s get into it. Let’s get one thing clear first: I think betting on this game — and on BC Football in general — is a terrible idea.
Boston College Football vs. Pitt: Betting Preview & Prediction
Well, last week’s pick of Cal spread hit — but my personal prediction that BC would still emerge on top, of course, was off. Now the Eagles travel to Pitt to take on the Panthers; with the line at Pitt -5.5, let’s get into it: Pitt is 2-2 on the season, with dominant wins over Duquesne and Central Michigan to open the season before losses to West Virginia and Louisville (by a touchdown each).

Boston College Men’s Hockey Roster Countdown: #10 James Hagens
