The best ideas are often the ones that seem so obvious in retrospect. Using the wish trope as a way for a guy to trap a girl in a relationship was an inspired premise. Obsession is far from a masterpiece, but it simply works, in large part because of Inde Navarette's incredibly bold performance. The fact that the comedy elements often outweighed the horror elements surely helped the appeal to mainstream audiences.
