AI‐Driven Weather Forecasts to Accelerate Climate Change Attribution of Heatwaves
1 Introduction Extreme weather events pose significant risks to ecosystems and society (Ummenhofer & Meehl, 2017). Among them, heatwaves (HWs) have become one of the most devastating climate-related hazards, with anthropogenic climate change (ACC) contributing to their increasing frequency, severity, and duration across many regions (Seneviratne et al., 2021).

Integrating Heat Wave Drivers Across Different Scales Based on the large-scale-to-local drivers identified in this section, Figure 8 summarizes major HW-related processes and integrates them in a conceptual framework. Although some drivers are common to HWs in different regions, the illustration may partially reflect processes associated with mid-latitude HWs, which are overrepresented in the scientific literature.
