In spite of recent news that Audi may not be building a successor to the current R8, a new report suggests that the current car's imminent facelift will come with a cheaper, smaller-engined model. According to Autocar, Audi is preparing to stick a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V-6 in the middle of the R8 along with tweaks to the supercar's exterior.

Volkswagen's luxury offering is preparing for a hectic fiscal year during 2018. In a media communication, Audi indicated that the sub-brand is planning to undergo a large business transformation over the next several months, increasing its operating and development budgets for new ventures that are just on the horizon.
