Macroscopic cerebral energy efficiency corresponds to neuron reorganization in awake and anesthetized mice
Abstract Introduction: Non-invasive imaging of brain function and energy supply is crucial for diagnosing and treating brain disorders. Conventional imaging struggles to capture altered relationships between energy supply and demand caused by brain diseases. A novel method, thus far only tested non-invasively in human subjects, is to calculate relative power (rPWR) and relative cost (rCST) to assess cerebral energy efficiency.
A numerical simulation study on dual-mineral carbonate rocks incorporating thermo-hydro-chemical (THC) coupling
Abstract Carbonate reservoirs are primarily composed of limestone and dolomite. During acidizing, the acid reacts with both minerals simultaneously; however, the reaction with limestone is notably more rapid and vigorous.

Berberine prevents postoperative recurrence of colorectal cancer: a protocol for a multicenter, double-blind, randomized controlled trial
Abstract Introduction: Postoperative recurrence and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC) are critical factors affecting long-term survival, and how to prevent postoperative recurrence and metastasis remains an urgent clinical challenge. Studies indicate that berberine has a preventive effect against colorectal adenoma recurrence; however, no research has yet investigated its preventive efficacy against CRC.

Targeting DGAT1 reprograms lipid landscape and restores CD8⁺ T cell immunity in pancreatic cancer
Abstract Lipid accumulation is a hallmark of the pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) tumor microenvironment, yet effective strategies to reprogram this lipid-rich niche and restore anti-tumor immunity remain limited. Here, we show that diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 1 (DGAT1) as a tumor-intrinsic metabolic checkpoint that promotes immune evasion.
Nutritional methionine restriction modulates gut microbiota and propionate/GPR41 signaling to mitigate diabetic kidney disease
Abstract Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a major diabetes complication lacking effective dietary therapies. While amino-acid-targeted diets modulate metabolic health, their impact on renal outcomes via gut microbiota-derived metabolites remains unclear. Here, we investigated whether a 13-week methionine-restricted (MR) diet improves renal outcomes in db/db mice and alters gut-derived short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and their receptors.

Yin-Yang vortex on UTe 2 (011) surface
Abstract UTe2 is a candidate spin-triplet superconductor, yet its superconducting state remains debated. Using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy, we observe a novel magnetic vortex with distinct dark-bright contrast in local density of states on UTe2 (011) surface under perpendicular magnetic fields, resembling the Yin-Yang diagram in Taoism. Each vortex carries a quantized magnetic flux, and the boundary between the two parts aligns with crystallographic a-axis.
4D injection molding - Nature Communications
Abstract Injection molding is a foundational manufacturing process for the large-scale production of plastic parts and is also applied to rubber, metal, ceramic, glass, wood, and composites. Regular injection molding focuses on minimizing warpage and ensuring dimensional uniformity and high repeatability, as non-uniform material shrinkage in complex mold cavities causes undesirable deformations.

Generalized Wigner crystal states on square lattices
Inspired by observations of generalized Wigner crystal states in moiré materials, we systematically investigate charge orderings of electrons on a square lattice with long-range interactions V(r)=Ur−α. Using simulated annealing Monte Carlo simulations in the classical limit without kinetic energy, we obtain the generalized Wigner crystal states for almost all rational fillings ν=pq (q≤20) and different α.

Shear Performance of New-to-Old Concrete Under Different Interface Treatments
3. Direct Shear Test Results During initial loading, new–old concrete specimens exhibited characteristic elastic behavior with near-linear stress-displacement relationships. Progressive loading induced microcrack initiation at the interface, followed by stable crack propagation along the bonding plane. Post-peak behavior demonstrated abrupt load capacity degradation, indicating interfacial bond failure.
Deciphering signaling mechanisms and developmental dynamics in extraembryonic mesoderm specification from hESCs - Nature Communications
Abstract Extraembryonic mesoderm (ExM) is crucial for human development, yet its specification is poorly understood. Human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-based models, including embryoids and differentiated derivatives, are emerging as promising tools for studying ExM development. Despite this, the signaling mechanisms and developmental dynamics that underlie ExM specification from hESCs remain challenging to study.
Targeting FSHR is a highly promising strategy for improving cognitive impairment in postmenopausal women - Molecular Psychiatry
The World Alzheimer Report 2024 estimates 55 million people worldwide currently have dementia, a number projected to reach 139 million by 2050 [1]. Alzheimer’s diseases (AD) onset is insidious and can span 15–25 years, particularly during mild cognitive impairment [2]. Its incidence shows significant age and gender dependence, with age (over 65) being a major risk factor and women exhibiting a higher dementia risk than men [3].

Bearing Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Osprey-Cauchy-Sparrow Search Algorithm-Variational Mode Decomposition and Convolutional Neural Network-Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory
1. Introduction Rolling bearings are crucial components of mechanical equipment and play a vital role in ensuring the normal operation of the machinery. Statistical data indicate that approximately 30% of mechanical failures are attributed to bearing issues [1]. Once bearing failures occur, they can lead to abnormal operation of equipment, potentially causing economic and safety concerns [2].

Spatial Perspective Taking in Non-Autistic Children and Autistic Children: Do Social Processes Benefit or Obstruct?
ABSTRACT The present study investigated whether the presence of another person in a visuospatial perspective taking (VSPT) paradigm would influence the performance of non-autistic and autistic children. Experiment 1 tested non-autistic children aged 5–7 (N = 82, 42 girls) in a self-condition (pure spatial updating of self-mental rotation) and an other-condition (taking another agent’s perspective).

The excellent performance of steel–concrete composite structures makes them of significant research interest, thus studies in this field have been thriving for a long time.
Anomalous isotope effect in $d$-wave superconductors on the square lattice
The isotope effect with a large coefficient α=−∂lnTc/∂lnM is usually taken as evidence of phonon-mediated superconductors in the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) theory. However, in cuprates which are now widely believed to be strong correlation-induced d-wave superconductors, α is experimentally observed to be quite small at optimal doping, but keeps growing with decreasing Tc upon doping, even after exceeding the BCS value 1/2.

Charge bond order and $s$-wave superconductivity in the kagome lattice with electron-phonon coupling and electron-electron interaction
The effects of optical bond phonons coupled to electrons in two-dimensional lattices have attracted much interest recently, with the hope to explore unconventional superconducting mechanism and pairing symmetries. Here we conduct a systematic investigation of such phonon modes in the kagome lattice at and around the upper van Hove filling to unravel new effects of the bond phonons in the presence of the unique sublattice frustration.
