Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
I wrote an article in CAP&Design that generated angry emails in response. It was about the decline of Swedish writers' language skills.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I learned how to type on an IBM electric.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Tintin!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email. I'm in different time zones all the time. Do NOT call me.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
The little grey cells.
What's your favorite social network?
I no longer have a favorite social network.
Why did you become a journalist?
I can't stop talking about ads. It might be a disease, ad-tourettes.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was the photographer, designer and also the only writer because we didn't have a school newspaper, but inspired by US teen films I made one
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I still haven't beat the upset I caused with that article about copywriters' terrible language skills. I try every day, mind you.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read ten times as much as you write, it'll keep you informed and help with your prose.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I prefer fact-based pitches without superlatives that tell me the who, when, where and what. I know where to go from there.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
All pitches which are obvious content marketing schemes fall under this category.
