You might think they’re just a bunch of cells, but when you’re at the start of an IVF journey a bunch of cells is exactly the result you’re after. A bunch of cells, an embryo or an “expanded blastocyst” to be precise, is a life, and not just any life, one you’re counting on to develop and grow so you can have children and be a family.

by Ellie Thompson It’s at random moments when I begin to picture how I might start writing this blog post, and how it might be done without it being a complete shower of expletives. It’s just how this topic makes me feel, I suppose. It brings back raw memories. I think this blog post needs a bit of a disclaimer to start with, as reading this back I can picture one of my favourite aunts being completely horrified at my choice of fruitful language.

by Ellie Thompson Hold onto your hats, my friends! It’s the terrible twos! Nah, personally, I think these toddlers get a bad rep. I’m only going on the experience of Maddie of course, as Billy is still only a tender 10-month-old baby. We found Maddie to be much more tricky during the first 12 months of her life, and just that little bit easier every month after. Maybe it’s just us. Maddie had so much to deal with in her early days and months.
