Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) is a crucial heme-containing enzyme involved in tryptophan (Trp) metabolism in the kynurenine (Kyn) pathway [1]. Recent research has shown that IDO is overexpressed in various tumor cells and neighboring immune cells [2]. The Kyn pathway can modulate the immune response in tumors, the activity of which is closely related to tumor immune tolerance and escape including T-cell anergy [3].
