Dan Hennessy
Dan Hennessy’s Biography
I write a column for The Finger Lakes Times called "Timely Matters," an ongoing reflection of life in today's world as seen through the multi-angled prism of yesterday. My perspective of modern history is very much shaped by intensive study of the Holocaust with some of the great institutions of the subject in the world: staff of the Int’l School of Holocaust Studies in Jerusalem, Israel; the Anti-Defamation League, the international educational group "Facing History & Ourselves," and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. In 2012 I was invited to and attended the Holland & Knight Charitable Trust’s "Holocaust Remembrance Project Scholar’s Week" in Boston and was a recipient of the Meyer A. Nathan Scholarship for Holocaust Education awarded by the Anti-Defamation League. The title of my first book is Remembrance & Repentance: The Call to Remember and Memorialize the Holocaust. I consider myself a Holocaust educator-activist and offer a 240-slide PowerPoint presentation with break-out sessions designed to generate small group analysis and discussion entitled An Overview Of The Holocaust From A Critical Perspective."
