MENOMINEE — The Michigan Court of Appeals has upheld the prison sentence of Brian W. Helfert, rejecting his appeal of a nine- to 15-year prison term imposed by the 41st Circuit Court in Menominee County for sexually abusing a student while serving as a school resource officer. Helfert, 62, was convicted by a Menominee County jury in March 2024 of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a weapon. He was sentenced in the 41st Circuit Court to nine to 15 years in prison.
