Landlords: how many hours a week do your rentals take
Forum Categories All Real Estate Broker · Chicago and Kansas City · Member since 2016 · 99 posts · 91 votes Mine took about 3 hours a week across 22 units. A turnover (one tenant moves out, the next moves in) eats a weekend, and the rest of the time it runs on a system: one platform where tenants message me and pay, and tradespeople who bill me directly once I introduce them. I am curious what other Chicago landlords run. How many hours do yours take, and what is the one habit that keeps it low?

What are all the ways you can force appreciation when rehabbing a property in KC?
Forum Categories All Inspector · Kansas City · Member since 2025 · 3 posts · 0 votes Hey everyone, genuine question here from a new real estate investor. I know every market is different when it comes to renovating a property a certain way to force appreciation and wanted to know what I should be focusing on to do just that here in Kansas City. I have been very curious how investors are able to know this even when the market shifts and the focus changes.
Chicago water meter installations on hold
Real Estate Broker · Chicago, IL · Member since 2016 · 55 posts 5y GREAT question Jay. I would love to see if anyone has had any luck finding a solution. danloveshouses@gmail.com773-295-1751Podcast Guest on Show #2 Member since 2018 · 1,730 posts 5y Only the City can install a meter. They rightfully don't want anybody screwing around with the system, installing unapproved/inaccurate meters, etc. Problem was that installing meters was supposedly adding lead to the houses water systems.
The Duck Dog Who Wouldn’t Quit, Even If It Killed Him
A painting of a brown Chesapeake Bay Retrieve on a yellow background. Bryce Risser leaned on the tailgate and silently studied the steaming mug of coffee I’d poured. Finally hoisting his cup, he proposed a toast, “To Tonka, one helluva dog …. This is how he would have wanted it.” Tonka was Bryce’s 11-year-old Chesapeake, the finest water dog I ever saw. But on this stormy afternoon at the end of the waterfowl season, Tonka’s crate was empty.
Know Your Client: 3 Issues Facing In-house Counsel in 2023 | JD Supra
A 2022 survey by the Legal Value Network (LVN) highlighted a critical disconnect between law firms and the clients they serve: A strong majority (79%) of law firms said they made “strong efforts” to understand the challenges that law departments face, yet fewer than half of their clients agreed. There is clear misalignment here, but it is one that legal marketers can help bridge.
Commentary: Protecting Your Law Firm from Cybercrime: One Big Idea and Three Simple Steps - Missouri In House Counsel
It’s not often that you save a life. About a year ago, I was in Los Angeles with one of my Digital Silence partners. We were in the CEO’s office of a mid-sized manufacturing company. We were there because the company had just suffered a ransomware attack. Computerized production lines were down, customer order and invoicing records were inaccessible; the business was sitting dead in the water. We were in that office with the CEO and the company’s IT director.

Community Voices: Debt purgatory
Almost everyone has/had interactions with debt (car loans, mortgages, credit cards, etc.) at some point in their life. If you have too many interactions with debt, it can “eat” up your paycheck or force you into bankruptcy and/or debt settlement arrangements.
Will your assessment change? Then what? - Milton Courier : Government

Wannacry: A Shot Across the Bow - HR Daily Advisor
Although information security and cyber attacks seem to be a daily headline, several events and trends recently collided to produce some headlines with extra heat: WANNACRY RANSOMWARE RUNS RAMPANT! Even in a world used to fast-moving technology, the speed of Wannacry’s spread, and the high-profile nature of its victims, took many by surprise. Despite the number of victims, we got lucky this time. The fortuitous discovery of a kill switch in the malware prevented further unchecked spread.
Huddersfield Town
Today marks 20 years since the final whistle was blown for the last time at the previous home of Huddersfield Town, Leeds Road. It was on that date that the Terriers, courtesy of goals from Simon Baldry and Phil Starbuck, vanquished visitors Blackpool 2-1 to give the Club a fairy tale departure from the place that had been its home for 86 years. The development of Leeds Road was one of the main reasons that Town were admitted into the Football League in 1910.
