1. Introduction Steel production is a process with high energy consumption and high emission production, and it represents approximately 8% of the global demand for energy and 7% (2.6 Gt of CO2) of the total emission from the power system. Therefore, decarbonisation of the metallurgical industry will be the key drive of future changes in metallurgy, which must definitely reflect a significant change in the technological processes involved in the steel production [1,2,3,4].
