Danette Heredia is a Digital Communications + Media student at Florida International University with a strong interest in news and its sociological impact on diverse populations. Her writing spans multiple genres, with a particular focus on political reporting that involves policy and in-depth research. She currently writes for PantherNOW and broadcasts for Caplin News, two FIU student-based news outlets, covering topics related to local news with a special interest in Cuba, coming from her Cuban-American heritage.
In addition to reporting, she has studied photography for over seven years, integrating visual storytelling into her journalistic work, strengthening and amplifying her stories. She aspires to work as a writer and photographer alongside a team of dedicated journalists.
