MISSOULA — The forecast is starting to feel a little bit like Groundhog Day as we are anticipating yet another round of evening thunderstorms tonight! Here's what to expect: A mix of warm morning sunshine and building clouds will lead to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Moist air moving in from the Pacific will fuel these storms, especially in Idaho and western Montana. Because of this, heavy rainfall and frequent lightning are likely.

Weather Forecast: Lake Wind Advisory tonight; same weather pattern continues

MISSOULA — Our current weather pattern continues today with more unsettled showers and storms. Just like earlier in the week, we’re expecting scattered thunderstorms to pop up late this afternoon into the evening, especially in the mountains. Things will likely get going after 2 or 3 PM, with storms developing around the Anaconda Range. These storms won’t move quickly, so there’s a chance of heavy rainfall in areas that are prone to flooding or have recent burn scars.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected each afternoon and evening through the weekend, especially across Lemhi County and west-central Montana. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for today (Tuesday afternoon and evening 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM). That’s because storms could move slowly and dump moderate to heavy rain, raising the risk of localized flooding — especially in areas with burn scars or poor drainage.
