(Rockford News First) - Weeks after longtime North Park Fire Protection District Chief Joel Hallstrom left the department, concerns over leadership inside North Park Fire spilled into the Winnebago County Board meeting Thursday night. More than a dozen North Park firefighters filled the County Board room as Chairman Joe Chiarelli publicly called on North Park Fire trustee Tim Gentry to resign. Several county board members then backed that request.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (Rockford News First) - One month ago, a crash closed Kishwaukee Street and Harrison Avenue. For the first time, public officials are saying a man died in the crash. Previously, the last confirmed information read: ‘initially, one person injured was thought to be a pedestrian and that person is in stable condition.’ The man’s family and friends fought to hear their son’s name acknowledged. “You’re not supposed to bury your kids,” said family friend Stephany Rinaldi.
