On January 10, 2023, the House of Representatives passed H.Res. 11 establishing the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (the “Select Committee”).1 The resolution passed with widespread bipartisan support by a vote of 365–65.

On January 9, 2023, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted its rules package1 for the 118th Congress (“House Rules”) by a vote of 220 to 213. While much attention has been given to the provisions that would significantly limit the traditional power enjoyed by the Speaker of the House2, the House Rules contain a number of provisions that will shape the House Republicans’ oversight agenda and investigative priorities in the new Congress.
