What was your first job as a journalist?

My first (and ongoing) regular stint was (and is) with Areo Magazine, contributing monthly book reviews.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but I'd love to.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means being engaged with the world and devoted to truth and argument. And it means trying to be a good writer.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I'm old-school: Microsoft Word.

Why did you become a journalist?

I was always a reader and something of a writer, and the world interests me a great deal, so it seems an appropriate path.

What's your favorite drink?

Non-alcoholic: Pepsi (much better than Coke). Alcoholic: anything except beer/lager, but in particular, red wine, whisky, vodka, cider...
